This project reimagines opera through the language of cinema, transforming the theatre into an active cinematic space. Moving beyond the conventional stage, the performance unfolds throughout the auditorium, mezzanine and balconies, using the architecture of the theatre to shape the visual narrative.

Through experimental framing and editing, the work challenges conventional approaches to filming live performance. Physical obstacles within the space become framing devices, selectively obscuring the image to isolate a performer, direct the viewer’s attention and intensify the narrative. In post-production, the frame becomes an active, shifting element, continually cropping, resizing and repositioning around the performer. The resulting box-like frame creates a sense of enclosure, transforming the relationship between performer, image and space.
